Great Balls of Fire Preview

The card on the inaugural Great Balls of Fire event is absolutely insane. Eight matches, and they all have a chance to be stellar. On paper this might be the best PPV since the brand extension came back. Let’s get into it!

Neville (c) vs Akira Tozawa

Singles match for the Cruiserweight Championship

WWE is giving us an amazing pre-show match. Akira Tozawa comes in as the newest signee of the Titus Brand, and Neville comes in with a 160 day title reign to defend. Even though this match has been built primarily on 205 Live, the segments they have done on RAW have been almost perfect. I love the Titus Brand. Hopefully O’Neill tries to recruit more Superstars, because it could be a new Heenan Family. I’ve loved Neville’s run, but I’m looking for WWE to start the show hot. I think Tozawa and the Titus Brand makes this a win.

Winner: Akira Tozawa

Seth Rollins vs Bray Wyatt

Singles Match

Remember when Edge and Booker T had a Wrestlemania match over a shampoo commercial? This is a match over a video game cover. Of course Seth Rollins got the cover. Former Mr. Money in the Bank and a two time WWE Champion. Come on, Bray.

Bray Wyatt has feuded with all three Shield members, now. He lost to all Ambrose and Reigns. I think Bray Wyatt wins this one, if for no other reason than he just needs to win a feud at some point. Seth Rollins doesn’t get hurt by losing this match, and all it will do is build up a strong, credible heel on a face heavy show. Besides, you could just have them again at Summerslam.

Winner: Bray Wyatt

Alexa Bliss (c) vs Sasha Banks

Singles match for the RAW Women’s Championship

Alexa Bliss has been as good as anyone could possibly be since she came up. A cocksure and cowardly heel who has managed to slip and slide her way to the top of the division, she has become a major reason to watch RAW every week. And as much as anyone could love Sasha Banks, I don’t know why the title would be better on her. Charlotte Flair and Sasha Banks traded that belt back and forth so many times over just a few months, that the belt needs to stay with one person for awhile. Alexa Bliss is that person.

Winner: Alexa Bliss

Roman Reigns vs Braun Strowman

Ambulance Match

How can you not love Braun Strowman? He’s perfect. He’s a big, strong and incredibly agile man, and he’s everything I strive to be. Look at where he was a year ago. He was in the Wyatt Family, and only slightly more entertaining than Erick Rowan, now he’s a star, and a smark favorite.

Roman Reigns on the other hand is in exactly the same spot he was a year and a half ago. Yeah, his work has gotten a lot better, as have his promos, but he still gets booed by half the crowd almost every night.

These two have annihilated each other over the last two weeks, and this will be no different. I think the Monster Among Men will vanquish the Big Dog this time. I mean, he flipped an ambulance over!

Winner: Braun Strowman

Cesaro and Sheamus (c) vs The Hardy Boyz

30 Minute Iron Man match for the RAW Tag Team Championship

Hopefully, this will be the end of this feud. It’s gone on for so long, and Im ready for something new. However, Iron Man matches are always a blast, and it’s awesome that at Matt and Jeff’s age, they can do this.

But, Cesaro and Sheamus need to come out of this match with the gold snugly around their waist. If I can’t see the Hardys break, I want to see them fight someone else. The only thing about this match that upsets me is that it’s probably what is keeping Finn Balor off this show.

Enzo Amore vs Big Cass

I am of two minds on this one. Big Cass should just run right through Enzo Amore, and I get that. But, I worry about what that would do to Enzo’s career. Ideally, what I’d like to see is Enzo winning this match by hook or crook. A surprise roll-up or Big Show interference to set up a Big Cass and Big Show Summerslam match? Yeah. Let me see that. That would be great.

Winner: Enzo Amore

The Miz (c) vs Dean Ambrose

Singles match for the Intercontinental Champioship

I love Dean Ambrose. I like his work, and the character, he just seems like a cool dude. I’m a fan of The Miz as well, and mostly for the character. He’s so annoying, the only friends he has is Curtis Axel and Bo Dallas. It’s wonderful.

The Dean Ambrose and Miz feud has been so much better here than it was on Smackdown Live!, but we’ve just seen these guys wrestle to many times to recently. Give Miz the win here and move both of these guys onto something else.

Winner: The Miz

Brock Lesnar (c) vs Samoa Joe

Singles match for the Universal Championship

Here we go. The main event. WWE has done a masterful job of making this a big fight. So clearly I can see Samoa Joe trying to lock in the Coquina Clutch as Lesnar is trying to punch a ticket to Suplex City. This will be a fight. Both of these guys hit so hard and rapidly, I don’t know how someone isn’t going to bleed. In the end, I can’t see Lesnar losing the title before Summerslam.

Winner: Brock Lesnar
