This week ya’ll, this week…….Let’s just get right to it.
The show opens with a reminder of the feud between Shane and Kevin Owens. I think we all know where this is going. Let’s just find out, shall we? Kevin, of course, enters the ring and starts talking about what changes he is going to make when he runs the show. Sami Zayn, fired. Tom Philips and Byron Saxton will have to share a suit because they sound like the same person on the mic, funny. Corey thought so. Fashion Files, gone. So on and so on.
When Shane O’Mac’s music hits, Owens is pissed. But don’t worry, it was just Dolph Ziggler doing his stupid bit again. They have witty banter and then Daniel Bryan comes out to tell Owens that Vince will be here later.
AJ Styles vs. Tye Dillinger for the United States Championship
Finally, a real competitor to go against Styles! After a lot of flipping and evasive maneuvers by Styles, Dillinger takes quick control of the match. Dillinger throws Styles out of the ring as we go to commercial.
Back from commercial and we find Dillinger and Styles in the ring. Dillinger has Styles in the corner and is pounding AJ in the head. Styles is able to escape bringing Dillinger to the mat. Both men get back to their feet and exchange blows. Styles attempts a Pele kick but misses completely. Dillinger attempts to close line but is caught by a massive forearm by AJ. Both men are once again down and hurting. Once they are back up, Styles charges Dillinger in the corner and jumps to the apron, where he gives a vicious hit to the face of Dillinger with a forearm.
Styles prepares to take to the top rope for the Phenomenal Forearm to Dillinger but takes out Baron Corbin instead, who tries to interfere with the match. Dillinger rolls Styles up for a 2 count and tries to get him into the Tyebreaker with no luck. Styles then works to get Dillinger into the Stylesclash, again with no luck. Dillinger is finally able to connect with his signature move, covers and gets a very close two count. Dillinger is frustrated and charges after Styles. AJ gets Tye into the Calfcrusher and that’s all she wrote. Dillinger taps out. Styles retains the title.
After the match, Baron decides to beat both down. Corbin tosses Styles into the WWE Universe and takes out Dillinger. Corbin delivers an End of Days to Styles and cuts a promo about how next week he is going to fight him for the title.
Rusev is mad….again
Rusev has a backstage promo about being laughed at in his home country of Bulgaria when he visited recently. He is upset about being beat in 10 seconds at Summer Slam and how people in his country think he is a loser because of it. He says he will break a legend to get his honor back. Ok….
Jinder Mahal says stuff
Jinder Mahal comes out to the ring and makes fun of Shinsuke Nakamura. That’s really all there is to it.
The New Day vs. The Uso’s for the Tag Team Titles ( Sin City Street Fight)
Xavier Woods does not stay ringside so that the Uso’s do not have the ability to cry foul at all. Good call guys. Straight out the gate, they all get to swinging. Kofi and Big E go straight for the tables under the ring. But it doesn’t matter as the Uso’s beating the New Day senseless as we head to commercial.
Back from commercial, we find both teams in the ring. Jimmy does work on Big E and Jay goes to town on Kofi outside. This isn’t looking for The New Day. Jay grabs a kendo stick and Big E feels the wrath. It isn’t until Kofi distracts The Uso’s that Big E gets a break from the beating. Kofi gets a massive drop kick in that starts to turn the tide.
Kofi picks up the kendo stick and breaks it over the body of Jay Uso. Both Uso boys try to take out Kofi in the corner but come up short. Jimmy gets beat up with a chair by Kofi, and Kofi trust falls into the Uso’s but gets caught and thrown into the barricade. Big E recovers and goes bananas. Back in the ring with Jimmy Uso, Big E turns it on big time! It doesn’t take long before Big E gets run by the Uso’s!! But just when you think Big E is finished, Kofi shows up and they pull the Midnight Hour on Jimmy into the cover by Big E. 1,2,3! THE NEW DAY WIN!!
Naomi vs. Natalya for the Women’s Championship (Carmella on Commentary)
The match starts with a quick back and forth between the two that also contained a bit of mocking. Naomi goes to town on Nattie with a massive series of kicks followed by a kick to the head to Natalya. She quickly recovers sending Naomi onto the turnbuckle as we go to commercial.
Back from break, we find Naomi in a headlock. Naomi fights out and she is able to take out Natalya in the center of the ring. Naomi continues to control the match with a bunch of kicks and leg drops into a cover for 2 and a kick out by Natalya. After a failed moonsault by Naomi, Nattie tries to put Naomi in the sharpshooter but is sent out of the ring. When Naomi jumps off the top rope in an attempt to flatten Natalya, she takes out Carmella and Ellsworth instead. Nobody is mad about it.
Natalya uses this to the opportunity to take the distracted Naomi into the ring post and then throws her back into the ring. While back in full control, Natalya gets Naomi into the Sharpshooter for the tap out. Natalya retains.
More backstage shenanigans with KO
Dolph Ziggler is still trying out a few things
Kevin Owens loses his damn mind
It is the moment we have been waiting for. Uncle Vince shows up to have a talk with Kevin Owens. During this talk, he makes a match at Hell in a Cell between Shane and KO (saw that coming) and then Kevin Owens loses his damn mind. Seriously, Vince is wayyyyy to old for this ish.
What a night! Remember, what happens in Vegas, stays in Vegas. Unless you’re Kevin Owens. In his case that stuff is gonna haunt him for a long time. See you next time!
